Dr. Roy Carls is a founding surgeon of APG, specializing in arthroscopic reconstruction of the shoulder, knee, foot, and ankle. He trained under Dr. David Adkison at National Naval Medical Center. He then trained in a world leading foot and ankle fellowship at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD under Dr. Mark Myerson. He has served as a team orthopedic surgeon at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. He has served as a staff orthopedic surgeon and instructor of residents at the National Naval Medical Center. His patients have included members of Congress, NBA athletes, and senior leadership of the US Navy. He currently owns a private practice in Maryland and is a community team physician for multiple local colleges and high schools.

Dr. Steve Yao practices orthopedics in Salem, Oregon, with a focus on arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery. He completed medical school at Rush Medical College in Chicago, residency at The Medical College of Wisconsin and subspecialty training in Lake Tahoe, California. He is a former United States Air Force officer with over 14 years of orthopedic experience. Prior to becoming an orthopedic surgeon he worked as a physical therapist. This experience provided him with a unique perspective on managing orthopedic problems. He is passionate about providing patients an outstanding experience and the highest quality of care.

Dr. Dan Valaik is the director of education for APG; he is currently on faculty at Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine where he received sub specialty training in joint replacement surgery. He graduated with honors from the US Naval Academy and then served as a Navy SEAL for 6 years. After medical school, he performed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the National Naval Medical Center, where he later served as Chairman. His patients have included members of Congress and of the Supreme Court, Admirals and Generals, and elite military members.

Dr. Tudor Tien is a graduate of Columbia College and the University of Michigan, School of Medicine.
He performed his residency at the National Naval Medical Center and subspecialty training in foot and ankle arthroscopy at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He currently resides in Michigan and serves on the clinical faculty of Michigan State College of Medicine.

Dr. David Adkison is the senior surgeon and founder of the American Physicians Group. He is a native of Alabama and performed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland, where he later served as Chairman. His patients have included President Bill Clinton, members of Congress and of the Supreme Court, and elite military members. His sub specialty training was in arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder, which constitutes the entirety of his practice. He is annually ranked as one of America’s top doctors and best orthopedic surgeons by patients and peers.

Dr. Scotty Bew is a Primary Care Sports Medicine specialist and former US Navy Captain from Florida. He graduated from the College of William and Mary and the Uniformed Services University military medical school. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at the Naval Hospital Pensacola, Florida and his Sports Medicine fellowship at the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, California. He has served as Chief Operations Officer and as Chief Medical Officer at multiple institutions. He also has served as team physician for US Naval Academy Preparatory School, all-Military rugby, boxing and soccer teams, and the All- Navy Rugby team.

Dr. Sewell resides in Salem, Oregon where he is a founding partner and president of the Premiere Orthopedic group in the state. Known for his warm and comforting bedside manner, his practice is devoted to the evaluation and treatment of sports medicine patients with a particular focus on arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery. A graduate of Washington University in St Louis School of Medicine, one of the top medical research and training programs in the county, he completed his residency at the National Naval Medical Center. His patients have included members of Congress and of the Supreme Court, President Clinton and professional athletes. He is recognized by his peers and patients as one of the best orthopedic surgeons in the country.
